Most people in modern, westernized society are very dependent on motor vehicles – either their own, like private cars, or public transport, like buses and taxis. This makes us as a society very dependent on fossil fuels. Unfortunately fossil fuels are expensive, cause massive damage to the environment and pose significant health risks.
Alternative energy types like solar, wind, hydroelectric or wave power may provide a viable solution in the future – but in most cases the technology still needs significant development before we are likely to see it in the average vehicle. Unlike these energy types, biodiesel technology is sufficiently advanced, and it is fairly easy to convert a vehicle to biodiesel.
Biodiesel provides an immediate and easy way to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, as well as reduce the impact we have on the environment and reduce some of the health risks. This video clip shows how biodiesel is processed.
